Every registered domain has a minimum of two Name Server records which show where it's hosted i.e. by using these records you direct your domain address to the servers of a particular website hosting provider. In this way, you have both your site and your emails handled by the exact same service provider. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), nevertheless, there are a number of other records, for example A and MX. The first one reveals which server handles the website for a given Internet domain and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the second one reveals which server deals with the e-mails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). As an illustration, whenever you enter a domain in your browser, your request is sent through the global DNS system to the provider whose NS records the domain address uses and from there you may be directed to the servers of another provider provided you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your domain address. Having different records for the website and the emails means you may have your site and your emails with two different companies if you'd like.

Custom MX and A Records in Shared Hosting

If you have a Linux shared service through our company, you'll be able to view, create and change any A or MX record for your domain names. So long as a particular domain name has our Name Servers, you will be able to change certain records using our Hepsia hosting CP and have your site or e-mails directed to another provider if you wish to use only one of our services. Our leading-edge tool will even enable you to have a domain address hosted here and a subdomain below it to be hosted someplace else by changing only its A record - this will not affect the main domain address at all. If you decide to use the e-mail services of a different provider and they want you to create more than 2 MX records, you can easily do that with just a couple of mouse clicks in the DNS Records section of your Control Panel. You can even set different latency for every single MX record i.e. which one will have priority.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

Accessing and changing the A or MX records for any of your domain names or subdomains is extremely easy if you buy a semi-dedicated server plan from our company. The accounts are maintained via our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel, which includes a section committed to the DNS records of your domain addresses. The latter is going to be listed alphabetically and you can click on every one of them to see both the A and the MX records. Modifying any record is as simple as entering the new one in a text box and saving the change, so in case you have never dealt with such matters before, you won't experience any difficulties if you want to point your website or emails to an alternative service provider while keeping the second service with our company. When required, you could also set up additional MX records and set a specific priority in accordance with the instructions of the new provider.
